DAWG was founded by Cameron Vannan with a vision to create high-performance dog wear and gear designed to enhance the comfort, style, and functionality of hunting dogs. The story of DAWG began on October 15th, 2017, when Cameron went on his first duck hunt. His passion for the sport led him to quickly find and adopt Wilson, a hunting dog who would become both a best friend and a partner in the field.

During their hunts, Cameron noticed that Wilson often shivered in the cold, leading him to purchase a neoprene vest. However, the vest caused chafing under Wilson's arms, prompting Cameron to search for a solution. Drawing inspiration from his experience in sports, where he wore compression gear to avoid chafing, Cameron set out to design a protective under-layer for his dog. After months of trial and error with various prototypes, a breakthrough came when a seamstress in Boise, Idaho, reversed the pattern of the vest by accident, leading to the perfect design.

Cameron’s love for hunting expanded to upland game, where he worked closely with his long-time friend, Jake McCracken, the founder of Table Rock Kennels. Inspired by the success of Jake’s bird dogs, Cameron realized DAWG’s products could benefit working dogs in harsh terrains, providing protection and comfort for their active roles. Jake and his team of German Shorthair Pointers have put DAWG products to the test, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, especially in providing a first layer of protection during tough hunts.

DAWG will officially launch on January 1st, 2025, with the goal of producing gear that helps dogs perform at their best while maintaining comfort, style, and durability. We pride ourselves in being 100% Idaho USA Made, Start to Finish!
